“Dan’s
the man for website innovation”
The
site does not offer links to gift companies or advertising,
preferring to keep user details as secure a possible.
If
you are buying a present for someone who has everything they might
ask you to support a campaign
for more trees to be
planted or to buy a cow for a starving family in Africa.

“The
next big thing”
Dan
and his wife Janette both 34, are now hoping to attract national
media attention to their site www.thepresentknowledge.com
The
idea of the site is that members can put up a wish list of Christmas
and Birthday presents. Friends and Family members can then access the
lists, and buy gifts that are wanted by the recipient.

“A
Meeting with the Ghost of Christmas Present”
So
what was the great idea? Well, my visitor turned out to be something
of a conservationist. He abhors waste. He also doesn’t like
lying through his teeth when he receives an absolutely dreadful
present — “Thank you so much! It’s just what I’ve
always wanted!” He doesn’t see the sense in putting
unwanted gifts into the next available raffle, only to be won by
other people who don’t want them and put them in the next
available raffle and so ad infinitum. He doesn’t
see the sense in giving ‘things’ to people who already
have more things than they know what to do with. And yet, he is a
great believer in giving.
And
here’s a rather nice little tailpiece — the thing I
really liked: the Ghost of Christmas Present tells me that the
website also carries downloadable “gift vouchers” which
you can persona!ise and print off. You use these to promise to do
anything you think the recipient might like, such as to provide
breakfast in bed for your nearest and dearest, take junior on a
fishing expedition or whatever. Now that’s the kind of giving I
really like.

“Website
solves the headache of those unwanted presents”
IF
YOU’VE ever despaired of the unwanted Christmas presents that
your family insist on giving you every year, or what to buy for a
difficult, here’s your answer. Janette and Dan have sunk their
savings into the project which they say will benefit the environment
by ensuring people do not buy wasteful presents that nobody wants.

GREAT GIFTS
It's happened to us all - we've received a present for a special occasion which we wouldn't have chosen for our worst enemy. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way of letting our friends and loved ones know exactly what we did want? That way there'd be
No disappointments, only smiles all round. Well, super site, The Present Knowledge has come up with exactly that. Members can log onto www.thepresentknowledge.com and compile a list of items they'd like to receive, as well a profile of themselves including their hobbies and interests. Family and friends can then tick off what they intend to purchase and then hit the shops with confidence. How easy is that?

“It has been quite exciting receiving gifts you know you have asked for
but don't know who is going to give them to you. I was surprised and caught
out a few times! The PK worked for me and made my life 200% better before
Xmas as life's been hectic and time wasn't wasted. I did my Xmas shopping in
two days thanks to The Present Knowledge.” Phyl from Oxfordshire
"I
love the logo, I love the links around the site - it's wonderfully
obvious where to go for what (I hate websites that I struggle to find
my way around - this is not like that at all). I love the personal
input too (about your favourite being chocolate cake etc!). "Claire
from Wantage
"The
Web site itself looks really great, and as your friends we are all
bound to think its fantastic but I really do think it looks great and
I'm not just saying that! "Eli from Newbury
"Congratulations
on the launch. My first impression is that it is a very attractive
site with some good ideas. Great name too - very clever. "Sue
from South Wales
"Excellent.
Absolutely excellent, congratulations you guys and well done. "Dan
from Bristol
"It
was most reassuring that you say you will not pass on details
anywhere and you give full description of the security of the site.
It is an enormous refreshing relief to find a site that is NOT
commercial and of use to the USERS while being secure. "Hannah
from Oxford
"Having had a look at your website I'd like to congratulate you on a wonderful concept, the site is great. My sister introduced me to your service and is a keen member of the present knowledge, she loves it". Veronica from London
“I was a little shy about establishing my profile and wish list on The Present Knowledge but boy I am delighted that I did it. What a great service! What a time-saver!
I live in Canada. My family and friends around the world have very kindly sent me gifts for those special occasions and I have always been happy to receive them. But since I joined "The Present Knowledge" I have doubly benefited. I have received wonderful gifts that I wanted and needed and they are still a surprise. I can now also easily choose gifts for my family and friends without a worry that they will stick it in a corner and never look at it again!!!
I consider TPK to be a great service for people who don't see their family and friends on a regular basis and don't know their current interests or their sizes.
Keep up the good work - it's a wonderful web-site”.
